MSCO Closed Beta 4.5.0 Update
Mod Changes
- Major performance overhaul, more than doubling FPS for hosts and clients
- In our testing the bedroom went from 152 to 400 FPS at 1080p, results will depend on your CPU
- Optimized the game’s PlayMaker scripts and mouse-over checks, which were one of the biggest causes of low FPS in the base game
- Parked vehicles and the train now rest while every player is far away, and wake up as soon as someone gets close or something hits them
- Various client-side optimizations
- Rehauled item and object sync
- Items, car parts and vehicles are now matched between players by what they are instead of the order the game happened to load them in, which fixes items going out of sync or the wrong object moving for other players
- Joining a session now catches you up on everything the host changed since their last save, including items that were bought, moved or used up, car parts, bolts and fluid levels (fuel, oil, coolant, brake fluid, clutch fluid and jerry cans)
- Anything that happens whilst you’re still loading in is no longer lost
- Items only one player has (from other mods or a different game version) are now skipped instead of breaking sync for everything else
- More reliable bolt sync, including the battery terminals
- Full Satsuma sync
- Every stock, racing, GT, rally and N2O part can now be fitted by any player and shows up correctly for everyone, including steering wheels, the GT grille, hubcaps, antennas, seat covers, the N2O bottle and the dual tip exhaust
- Tuning is now synced, including the carburettors, distributor, cam gear, valve clearances, wheel alignment, rally dampers, final gear, tachometer knob and N2O
- Wear and fluids are now synced, including engine wear, spark plugs, headlight bulbs, the alternator belt, oil level and quality, what’s in the fuel tank, tyres and battery charge
- Damage is now decided by whoever is driving (or the host when nobody is) and is the same for everyone, so parts no longer break for one player but not the other
- Wiring now works like it does in the base game and is synced for everyone, including electrical fires (only the player touching a live wire can get shocked)
- Joining a session now also catches you up on tuning, wear, wiring and broken parts
- Spray paint now syncs the finish (matte, gloss etc.) as well as the colour
- Fleetari orders now sync the final gear, paint colours and the Gommer tyre job
- Added CD sync, CDs played in the Satsuma now play for everyone at the same song and time, and the host’s songs are sent over automatically so nobody needs the same music files
- Added piggyback rides, walk up behind another player and press F to hop on their back, press Space to hop off
- Carrying someone makes you walk slower and get tired faster, crouch to drop them
- You can now stand on and ride along on vehicles, like the flatbed trailer or a car roof, but hold on tight as you might fall off above 50 km/h
- New main menu
- Multiplayer now opens up a computer where you can host a lobby or find one
- Removed the New Game button as MSCO has no singleplayer (launch MSC normally through Steam to play singleplayer)
- Rehauled lobby system
- Friends lobbies now show at the top of the list, including private lobbies
- Added player list to the pause menu with ping, add friend and kick (host only)
- Improved GIFU sync
- Leaving a session now takes you back to the main menu instead of closing the game
- Rejoining a session puts you back where you left off with the same stats (also saved if the host saves whilst you’re gone)
- Added ‘settime’ command for host to change the time of day for everyone
- Added the rev limiter safeguard from MWCO to the Satsuma (only kicks in if the stock rev limiter is missing)
